BDSL GameDay – Yemen Elite vs Celtic United

The last time these 2 teams met was in the 2011 Fall league season.  In which Yemen won on the Celtic homeland.  This time the scorned Celtic troops will be invading the ‘CAGE’ and try to establish themselves as the best in the Championship division.  As of now they sit atop the division undefeated at 3-n-O.  Yemen will try to unseat them from the throne and have a chance to take top spot.  Celtic have beat Amherst raptors 2-0 in the first game of the season, the Raptors were the same team that FC Yemen beat 2-1 just this Thursday in a Tehel Cup.  They have also beat the better Amherst Sharpshooters 2-1 at Ellicot Creek, and decimated a post-wedding ROOS team 5 nil.  I have said this time and time again, we really don’t know what type of game the Celtic will bring,  but I know for sure based on the chatter in the BDSL forums, that their top player is #18 Joel Patrick.  He has beaten defenders with his speed and has excellent touches on the ball.  This match will be a true test to the Elite, who practiced yesterday morning in the pouring rain and raging winds.  The Elite will be without defensive middlefielder Ado Kadric due to hip-flexor injury and top forward Waheb Noman due to person matters.  But back in the line-up is a hungry Sami Abdulmalik who is determined to continue his success after suffering a questionable 3 game suspension. In net today will be one of Yemen’s great goalies Mana Mohsen, he will have to step it up and play one of his best games to date.

Yemen will have to keep focused and strike early to take this game. Yemen will have to contain Joel Patrick, also they must keep the ball grounded as much as possible due to the winds that are forecasted for today.  It rained heavy this morning, and field conditions look good with no puddles to be seen.  Hopefully the softened ground will be less of a headache than a concrete field that the players have been complaining about.  As the game time nears, I can’t help but hear the Celtic Bagpipes in the distance. LET’S GO ELITE..ELITE..ELITE!
